This ice cream maker makes very good ice cream. You just have to have 3-4 pounds of ice, rock salt and the ingredients in order to make some rich creamy ice cream. You can follow the recipes in the recipe book that comes with it or else find a recipe online.
The machine makes some noise when it's mixing the ingredients but it's no louder than a washing machine. After it's done you'll have some great soft serve ice cream that will become like store bought ice cream when it's been in the freezer for a few hours.

The Hamilton Beach ice maker worked wonderfully! Our concern was using it in our daughter's apt. but it was surprisingly quiet. I would definitely recommend this ice-cream maker. And thanks to Amazon for a speedy delivery.

Was a little leary about getting this because the price was so low, but there were many good reviews. I have used this 5 times, and each time it worked great(except for the time I tried to use table salt and the ice cream was crystalled). So, make sure to use rock salt. It is a little loud if you are going to use it when there are people around, so put it in the other room or something. Make sure to have at least 8 lbs. of ice. Ice Cream done in 20-30 minutes! Try the strawberry cheescake icecream recipe in the book that comes with it. It is so delicious!!!

I was happy enough with the ice cream maker.. However, it came new in a box with no instructions included.. How is a person supposed to operate a new appliance, undertand all the safety issues and care for the item, without instructions? I contaacted Amazon, who referred me to Hamilton Beach. Hammilton Beach only told me I could go to a website and download the instructions. That really isn't what I paid for and wasn't a cool thing to tell a customer. They could have mailed me a book!
I did not want to use all of my computer ink, which is very expensive, to print pages of intructions, warranty info, care and safety pages as well.. I was extremely angry.. I have since given the ice cream maker away, without using it, and will go elsewhere to purchase a complete one, and I will never use or recommend Hamilton Beach again. As for Amazon? They did offer me a minimal credit. However I did not avail myself of that offer. A slight credit would do me no good.. I needed the instructions to the ice cream maker, not a credit.. The Ice Cream maker was worthless without the info booklet on how to operate and care for it, so now the new owner, having gotten it for free, can invest the time and cost of downloading all those instructions. And I will re-think my Internet buying!
